Constitution - Tioughnioga Lake Association
ARTICLE I NAME
The name of the association shall be The Tioughnioga Lake Association.
ARTICLE II OBJECTIVES
SECTION 1 To promote the welfare of the members of the association.
SECTION 2 Control pollution and promote conservation of the water of Tioughnioga Lake.
SECTION 3 Provide continual activities for the lake community. (Amended 8/27/22)
ARTICLE III MEMBERSHIP (Amended 7/4/78)
SECTION 1 The membership of the Lake Association shall consist of the owners of the properties surrounding Tioughnioga Lake. Members of their families, and close friends as approved by the Executive Committee may be admitted as associate members. (Amended 8/27/22)
SECTION 2 At no time shall the membership rolls contain more than 35% non-property owners.
ARTICLE IV MEETINGS
SECTION 1 The association shall meet regularly on the Saturday following the 4th of July and on the Saturday of the weekend before Labor Day weekend at a place and hour designated by the Executive Committee. (Amended 7/6/13 and 7/10/21)
SECTION 2 The Executive Committee shall meet at least one week prior to the July and August meetings for the purpose of nomination of officers, drawing up of agenda, etc. (updated to correspond with Section 1 change)
SECTION 3 The August meeting shall be the Annual Meeting for hearing annual reports from all officers and for the election of officers. (updated to correspond with Section 1 change)
SECTION 4 Any regular meeting may be postponed by the president with the concurrence of the Executive Committee.
SECTION 5 Special meetings may be called by the president at any time.
ARTICLE V OFFICERS
Section 1 The officers of this association shall be a president, vice president, secretary, financial secretary, and treasurer.
Section 2 The officers shall be elected at the August Meeting by acclamation to serve for two years.
Section 3 The officers and the area captains shall constitute the Executive Committee.
Section 4 Area captains shall be appointed by the Executive Committee.
Section 5 In case of a vacancy occurring, the Executive Committee shall appoint a member to fill the post except the presidency, in which case the vice president automatically becomes president.
Section 6 The president may serve no longer than 2 consecutive terms.
ARTICLE VI AMENDMENTS
This constitution may be amended at any business meeting by a 2/3 vote of the members present, provided that the proposed amendment has been submitted in writing at a previous meeting.
Bylaws - Tioughnioga Lake Association
ARTICLE I MEMBERSHIP
Section 1 Any property owner on Tioughnioga Lake is eligible for membership in the organization.
Section 2 Each property shall be entitled to one vote in any matter pertaining to the association; such vote to be cast in person or by written proxy.

Section 3 Non-Property owners may join the Tioughnioga Lake Association as an associate member. An associate member has all of the rights of a member except for the right to vote. (Amended 8/27/22)
ARTICLE II DUES
Section 1 The annual dues shall be determined by a majority vote of the membership present at any meeting of the Association. (Amended 7/10/10)
Section 2 Only members whose dues are paid are eligible to vote.
Section 3 New member’s dues are payable upon application.
Section 4 Any members whose dues have not been paid may be dropped from the membership roll.
ARTICLE III DUTIES OF OFFICERS
The duties of the officers shall conform with those specified in Roberts Rules of Order.
ARTICLE IV COMMITTEES
Section 1 Committees may be appointed by the president at any time.
Section 2 Standing committees shall be as follows: nominating, summer events, water level, water quality and Ecological and Planned Development. (Amended 7/10/10)
ARTICLE V AMENDMENTS
These by-laws may be amended at any business meeting by a 2/3 vote of the members present provided that the proposed amendment has been submitted in writing at a previous business meeting.
